2015 ~ A Recap on my Year!

Golden glitter

So a Recap of 2015… Well for me the year started off by seeing in the New Year celebrations in Liverpool, UK with my BFF of 28 years, with her family & friends – a mad & fun loving lot that I wish I could hang out with more often if it wasn’t so damn far to come visit…

Then next up I headed over to Ireland with my mom to visit her childhood hometown & family, I hadn’t been here since I was 6 yrs old… And it turned out to be a really special time to share with my mom, as she reminisced and talked about her childhood memories as we were sightseeing – it definitely was a totally different way of life back in the 1930s & 40s

After nearly two weeks around the Southern Ireland charm it was back to London… to say cheerio to my niece, and other family n friends…

Then it was back Down-under to OZ – to the heat, reality & work… but also after being away for nearly 3 months I was really looking forward to seeing my son and my dog again!

In hindsight it was a great trip, even with a few bad moments thrown in… It is a trip I wish I could do every year to see my family & dear friends, come on Lotto!

The rest of my year was filled with an emotional and educational growth

In Poetry I spread my wings more this Year… as I entered into the “NaPoWriMo Challenge” in April; I became apart of a Team on Facebook via my friend Angel Poet called “Poetry In Motion” – which ran weekly Poetry Challenges & I also helped administrate a New Blog called “Vagrant Poetry” via Facebook & WordPress set up via my friend Shawn D. Standfast.

My Goodreads Reading Challenge was to read 104 Books, which I achieved and surpassed by reading 140 Books all up – the list of these books read are below!

My favourite all up read in 2015 would have to be the “Demonica” Series by Author Larissa Ione – it goes into really interesting concepts about The Apololypse, The Four Horsemen, Heaven, Hell, Angels, Demons lots of different types, Good vs Evil etc as well as being based around great story lines about finding your soul-mate and falling in love, but I found it enlightening and a thought provoking read!

QUOTES on WANDERLUST:

“All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost. – J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Rings

” The Wanderlust has got me… by the belly-aching fire. – Robert W. Service, Rhymes of a Rolling Stone

” …but I preferred reading the American landscape as we went along. Every bump, rise, and stretch in it mystified my longing. – Jack Kerouac, On the Road

” The trees called to me, urging me to abandon what I knew and vanish into the oncoming night. It was a desire that had been tugging me with disconcerting frequency these days. – Maggie Stiefvater, Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls)

” And we laugh and laugh and all I know is at thus moment I feel like I can do anything I want and be anyone I want and go anywhere on the globe and still call it home. – Kristen Smith, The Geography of Girlhood

” All my life I have lived and behaved very much like the sandpiper just running down the edges of different countries and continents, looking for something. – Elizabeth Bishop

” Sometimes I think a man could wander across the disc all his life and not see everything there is to see,’ said Twoflower. ‘And now it seems there are lots of other worlds as well. When I think I might die without seeing a hundredth of all there is to see it makes me feel,’ he paused, then added, ‘well, humble, I suppose. And very angry, of course. – Terry Pratchett, The Colour of Magic (Discworld, #1)

” Paradise was always over there, a days sail away. But it’s a funny thing, escapism. You can go far and wide and you can keep moving on and in through places and years, but you never escape your own life. I, finally, knew where my life belonged. Home. – J. Maarten Troost, Getting Stoned with Savages

” Nostalgia in reverse, the longing fro yet another strange land, grew especially strong in spring. – Vladimir Nabokov, Mary

Quote by Albert Einstein

image

A human being is part of the whole,
called by us “Universe,”
a part limited in time and space.

He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings
as something separated from the rest
- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.

This delusion is a kind of prison for us,
restricting us to our personal desires and
to affection for a few persons nearest to us.

Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison
by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures
and the whole of nature in its beauty.

~ Albert Einstein, 1950

Words on Sticky Little Leaves…

image

What are your Sticky Little Leaves in Life…?

I came across this saying whilst reading Sylvain Reynard’s books the “Gabriel’s Series”Fyodor Dostoevsky in his Book “The Brothers Karamazov” and Alexander Pushkin’s Poem “Chill Winds Still Blow“.
~@~
📣 Quotes from these Books & Poems are:

     # Sylvain Reynard, Gabriel’s Inferno & Rapture:
  • “She is not my equal; she is better. She is my sticky little leaf.”
  • “You are my sticky little leaf. My beautiful, sad, sticky little leaf, and I want to see you happy and whole.”
  • “The sticky little leaves aren’t faith or salvation. They’re the remnant of hope. They stave off his despair, demonstrating that despite the evil he has seen, there is at least one good and beautiful thing left.”

    # Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov:

  • “Though I may not believe in the order of the universe, yet I love the sticky little leaves as they open in spring. I love the blue sky, I love some people, whom one loves you know sometimes without knowing why. I love some great deeds done by men, though I’ve long ceased perhaps to have faith in them, yet from old habit one’s heart prizes them.”
  • “I love the sticky little leaves in spring, the blue sky – That’s all it is. It’s not a matter of intellect or logic; It’s loving with ones inside, with ones stomach.”

    # Alexander Pushkin, Chill Winds Still Blow:

  • Will the sticky little leaves; Soon blossom from the fleecy birch?”

For me personally My Sticky Little Leaves” in life first and foremost would be my son, my mom, family and friends….

I have also related to the words, “I go on living in spite of logic at times“, in my life when darkness appeared and today I am glad to be still here!

Also the words – “Though I may not believe in the order of the universe, yet I do find things that I love” ….well for me it would have to be Books, Poetry, Music, Art, Nature/ Animals and in my job, where I get to Nurse some wonderful people!

And “Some great deeds done by some ordinary human-beings, especially when we cease to have faith in others“, this especially comes to mind after some of the recent senseless disasters in the US with Gun problems, Terrorist Attacks and Bombings where the tragic result was the killing of innocent lives…….and then you can read how people worldwide band together to support and assist those directly affected to overcome these awful events and “One’s heart prizes them and restores your faith”.
*
And last but not least to our amazing Heroes (The Police and Military Forces), who put their lives at risk daily to make our world a safer place to live in! Words are not enough to express what I think of them but they have my total Respect & Support!!! Can’t imagine what it must be like to walk in their shoes….
